SUMMER MUSIC PLAYLIST

Coldplay - Ghost Stories

There are two times of the year that music just seems more memorable to me – Summertime and Christmastime.  Perhaps it is because these seasons are the two most anticipated times of the year… or that the memories experienced during the summer and the holidays seem to be accompanied by the soundtrack of music that happens to be “in” at the time.  In any event, music is such a vital part of my life and I am happy to share my summer music playlist that I am so entirely loving right now.  I warn you that I generally do not… Read More

LOOK UP – This video will inspire you to be more present and alive in the lives of those you most love

Yesterday was Mother’s Day.  I loved spending the day with my kids and family but I could not help but notice how we all spent a part of the day responding to other’s people’s well-wishing texts, Instagrams and Facebook posts.  I know I checked every media site to see if my kids posted any “spending Mother’s Day with my amazing Mom” posts.  They didn’t.  I wish a little bit that they would have, but then I realized that this is truly an utter stupidity because I know in my heart that they love me anyway.  I don’t need to post… Read More

World’s Toughest Job – WATCH THIS FOR MOTHER’S DAY…

Job Posting

IN HONOR OF MOTHER’S DAY! I LOVE BEING A MOM. My children are the best gifts I have received in this lifetime. Yet, I can’t seem to shake the odd feeling of sentimental anxiety I get every year when Mother’s Day comes around. I know a big part of it is that I miss my own mom so much (she has been in Heaven since 2002) that I can’t help the waterworks when I see other women with their moms. To me, Mother’s Day has never been about flowers or gifts. Mother’s Day should be a day everyone in the… Read More

What I am reading.. “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein

The Art of Racing in the Rain

I literally read this book in two days while on a beach in the Dominican Republic.  It is a beautiful, uplifting story told by a dog that will make you a better and happier person once you are done reading it.  I literally could not put it down and bawled like a baby. When I get home from vacation, I am going to hug my puppies and give them extra special treats.  Make sure to read it before the movie comes out!  Race car aficionado Patrick Dempsey AKA Dr. McDreamy has been perfectly cast as the lead and I get… Read More

Diane Von Furstenberg Rocks!

Family Affair! Melissa Medina (my niece), Lisette Medina (my sister), me, Diane Von Furstenberg, Becky (my sister) & Madeline (my niece)

Diane Von Furstenberg is undoubtedly a SUPERWOMAN and one of my favorite fashion icons of all time.  I had the pleasure of meeting her in November of last year when my niece, Melissa Medina, hosted the Grand Re-Opening of her Merrick Park Store in Coral Gables, Florida.  Naturally, most of our immediate family did not miss an opportunity to meet the Divine DVF. I was immediately amazed at how Diane personally greeted every woman entering the store with such confidence, kindness and grace.  Diane radiates this quintessential “rock star” aura, that combined with her timeless genuine beauty and exceptional sense… Read More

MY FIRST OFFICIAL SUPERWOMANHOOD POST…. A HAPPY TEARJERKER!

Arlene Alvarez | Writer

I set up this blog a few months ago but had not had the time to publish anything.  Last week, I received perhaps the most divine intervention in the form of my daughter’s superhero essay (attached below).  More on this later… My mission has always been to help women realize how amazing they are and I truly believe that we are all SUPERWOMEN.  If you go back to your school days, who got the best grades and were the best students?  GIRLS!  In the workplace, who are usually the most brilliant, disciplined, detail-oriented and ethical professionals?  WOMEN!  In most marriages,… Read More
